About Tourific

Free to use as written. The numbers are rounded down so they stay true between updates.

Tourific is a road trip and travel planning app for iPhone and Android built on short travel videos filmed by its creator community. Each video is tied to the place where it was filmed, and together they power the app's route planning, a public reel map and original travel research at BestRoadTrip.com, which draws on thousands of videos from 1,400+ cities in 100+ countries and territories. Creators earn $2 to $6 per 1,000 qualified views. Tourific was founded by Piyush Bhattad and is based in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Ask Tourific, the app's travel concierge, launched on September 29, 2026. It finds places near you, plans a day in any city or maps a road trip with its costs, working from creator videos and live place data. New in the Tourific app on iPhone and Android.

What is Ask Tourific?

Ask Tourific is the travel concierge inside the Tourific app, launched on September 29, 2026. Ask it for places open near you, a day in any city in order, a road trip with real routes or what the trip will cost, and it answers from creator videos, live place data and your taste.

New in the Tourific app on iPhone and Android.

  • Places near you, or anywhere: Spots that are open now and rated well, and the places creators filmed nearby.
  • A day in any city, in order: Real stops with creator picks, ratings and times, saved as a trip you can edit.
  • Road trips with real routes: Route options with miles, driving hours and the creator videos along each one.
  • Costs with the math shown: Fuel, tolls, food and lodging, with the prices and sources it used.
  • Stays, tours, weather, events: Hotels and tours with live prices, the forecast, and dated events from real sources.
  • The video you saw, the guide you read: Ask about a video you watched in the last day without naming the place, or ask a planning guide your questions.

Five questions, and what it answered

  1. Ask Tourific answering 'road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles, 3 days, I want the coast' with 3 route options on a map; the Pacific Coast Classic is 446 miles, 9 hours of driving over 3 days, with 14 creator videos on the route

Asked: “road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles, 3 days, I want the coast”

Answer: Three route options on a map. The Pacific Coast Classic is 446 miles with 9 hours of driving over 3 days, via Half Moon Bay, Monterey and Big Sur, with 14 creator videos along the route.

  2. Ask Tourific trip cost estimate of $665 for the Pacific Coast drive: fuel $110, tolls $0, food $195, lodging $240, activities $120, with the fuel price source, and the drive split into two days

Asked: “Let's go with the first route. How much will gas cost and is 3 days enough?”

Answer: About $665: fuel $110 (a 25 mpg car at $6.19 a gallon, the California AAA average on 2026-09-22), no tolls, food $195, lodging $240 and activities $120. The drive splits into San Francisco to Santa Barbara (350 miles) and Santa Barbara to Los Angeles (94 miles).

  3. A day in Lisbon planned by Ask Tourific: lunch at Time Out Market, an afternoon at Praça do Comércio and sunset at Cais do Sodré, each marked as a creator pick with its rating and time

Asked: “plan a day in Lisbon for me, food and viewpoints”

Answer: It checks what creators filmed in Lisbon, then orders the day: lunch at Time Out Market, the river at Praça do Comércio in the afternoon and sunset at Cais do Sodré, each a creator pick with its rating and time.

  4. Ask Tourific answering 'Where is the waterfall from the reel I just watched?' with a From reels you watched row of 2 spots, Boon Waterfall and Gangapurna lake, each with a creator tip, and the answer that the waterfall is Boon Waterfall in Chyamche, Nepal

Asked: “Where is the waterfall from the reel I just watched?”

Answer: It looks at the reels you watched and names it: Boon Waterfall in Chyamche, Nepal, with the creator's tip to wear sturdy shoes and bring water and snacks, because facilities are limited.

  5. Ask Tourific answering 'When do you need winter tires in Quebec?' from the Winter Driving Guide, with the guide's card above the answer

Asked: “When do you need winter tires in Quebec?”

Answer: It answers from the Winter Driving Guide: from December 1 to March 15 for every vehicle registered in Quebec, rentals included. Out-of-province vehicles are exempt, a rental car in Montreal is not, and the fine is $200 to $300.

Story angles

Six angles with the data behind them

Each one links to the source and names the snapshot its numbers describe. Custom cuts of the data are available on request.

  1. What a road trip costs in 2026: gas, EV or RV

Across 64 hand-verified city pairs in 24 countries, EVs averaged $33 in fuel per trip against $48 for a gas car, 32% cheaper, and RVs averaged $125. The EV share of the gas cost stayed between 67% and 70% in every country measured.

Data: April 2026 (64 verified city pairs)Read the paper
  2. Where creators film, and where they skip

Thailand's 93 creator reels span 47 cities; the United States' 80 reels span 26. In the September 2026 snapshot, Budapest holds 97.4% of Hungary's creator video while Jaipur holds 15% of India's, and in 13 of 28 countries the most-filmed place is not the capital.

    Data: Q1 2026 (1,332-video snapshot); September 27, 2026 (3,131-video snapshot)Read the paper
  3. The road trips with video at both ends

Bangkok to Pattaya is the best-documented drivable road trip: 53 and 34 creator videos, 111 km apart.

    Data: September 27, 2026 (3,131-video snapshot)Read the paper
  4. A creator program that pays per view, with no follower minimum

Tourific pays creators $2 to $6 per 1,000 qualified views, about $5 on average, plus reaction bonuses, through Stripe Connect. A separate Content Bounty pays per accepted reel of a new place, at a rate agreed with each creator on Upwork before they upload. The founder can walk through how the program works and why it is built around places rather than audiences.

  5. PinDrop: a daily geography game played on creator footage

Players watch a 30-second creator reel and have six guesses to place where it was filmed. A new round starts every day at midnight UTC, and every clip is real footage from a creator who was there, not Street View.

    Live at bestroadtrip.com/pindropPlay today's round
  6. What creators say on camera

Voice tracks from 1,068 reels yielded 4,427 distinct practical tips, 1,247 local insights, 855 specific recommendations and 37 recurring warnings. “Bring water and sun protection” is the most-narrated tip, said by 51 creators in more than 40 countries.

For journalists

Quick answers

Can I quote your data in my article?

Yes. Credit “BestRoadTrip by Tourific” and link to the research paper the figure comes from. Each paper names the snapshot its numbers describe, so quote the date with the number.

Can I get the underlying data?

Yes. Email piyush.bhattad@tourific.ai with the cut you need, for example by country, city or activity.

Is any of this AI-generated?

The videos are not. Every one was filmed and uploaded by a creator through the Tourific app, with no stock footage and no scraped clips. Machines help with the text layer: voice tracks are transcribed with Whisper and tips are sorted by a GPT categorisation step, and the papers that use transcripts say so in their method notes.

Is Tourific a real product?

Yes. Tourific is on the App Store and Google Play, free to download, with Tourific Pro at $6.99 a month or $49.99 a year. BestRoadTrip.com is its public site; the videos, maps and research here come from the same creator uploads the app uses.

How are creators paid?

Per qualified view: $2 to $6 per 1,000 qualified views, about $5 on average, plus reaction bonuses, paid through Stripe Connect once earnings pass $25. Content Bounty reels are paid per accepted reel through Upwork instead. More on the About page.

Which phones have Ask Tourific?
