Every day, millions of travelers film incredible moments on their phones - a hidden waterfall in Bali, a street food stall in Bangkok, a sunset from a cliff in Santorini. Those videos end up on social media with vague location tags like “somewhere in Thailand” or no location at all. The geospatial data - the exact coordinates of where that moment happened - is lost.
That's a massive waste. If you could take every travel video ever filmed, correctly geotag it to its precise location, and organize it on a map - you'd have something no travel platform has ever had: a living, visual database of real human experiences indexed by geography. Not reviews written by strangers. Not stock photos. Not AI-generated descriptions. Real video from real people who were actually standing in that exact spot.
We started with the geospatial layer - a platform that ingests travel videos, extracts or corrects their GPS coordinates using computer vision and contextual analysis, and indexes them into a searchable geographic database. Every video gets pinned to the exact city, neighborhood, and point of interest where it was filmed.
That infrastructure powers a wide range of applications, but we chose road trips as the first because the use case is obvious: when you're driving from A to B, knowing what's actually at each stop - through the eyes of someone who was just there - is more valuable than any written review. You're not reading about Big Sur. You're watching someone drive through it yesterday.
Tourific is the native app (iOS, Android, web) where creators upload content, earn money ($5 CPM + reaction bonuses), and travelers plan trips with an AI assistant named Chloe. The app includes a vehicle-specific cost engine that calculates fuel costs using your actual MPG, current gas prices, and the elevation profile of your route. For EVs, it simulates state-of-charge with non-linear charging curves. For RVs, it checks tunnel and bridge clearances.
BestRoadTrip.com is the public-facing web experience. The Reel Map puts every geotagged video on an interactive dark map - 591 cities across 121 countries. The reel feed is a vertical scroll of travel content you can browse without an account. The route builder lets you click cities to build a trip and see gas, EV, and RV cost estimates. And the road trip guides are hand-built itineraries with real creator videos embedded at every stop.
Most travel planning today is broken. You Google “best road trip in Italy” and get a listicle written by someone who's never been to Italy, stuffed with affiliate links to hotels they've never stayed in. The photos are stock. The costs are made up. The itinerary is a copy of every other article on page one.
